Athletes and Parents,
Thank you for your consideration and interest in joining Saint Peter Volleyball Association (SPVA) for the 2024 - 2025 JO season. At SPVA we are specifically focused on the player experience and have tweaked our tryout process to best serve the players with our philosophy and to align with our available resources.
The club’s tryout process is laid out below to assist you and your player in making an informed decision during the 2024 - 2025 club volleyball tryout period.
In an effort to create competitive teams and development opportunities for our young volleyball athletes, SPVA will form JO teams for each division at a 1 or 2 level (depending on number registered). Players who are not selected for JO teams will be offered a spot with one of our Youth Development Teams (YDT). Players will not be cut, however there may not be enough to form a team in an age bracket.
Please pay close attention to all information but specifically the following updates:
Tryout Dates
11-14s (Grades 5-8)
Saturday, October 26, 2024 (morning times)
If the evaluator "calls back" a player for a 2nd tryout, they will be asked to stay for the next age group which may be Sunday, November 10.
15-18s (Grades 9+)
Sunday, November 10, 2024
If the evaluator "calls back" a player for a 2nd tryout, they will be asked to stay for the next age group
Time slots to be announced, will be determined by numbers registered and will be announced when registration closes.
1) The top players will be placed on one of our regular JO teams. The number of top teams will be determined based on the number of registrations we have for that age group.
2) By registering for tryouts, the expectation is that you are trying out to make one of the top JO teams. If selected for a JO team, we expect the position to be accepted.
3) Before attending tryouts, please have a plan prior to arrival of tryouts if you will OR will not accept the YDT spot, if your player should be placed there.
4) YDT teams will start their season later and practice once a week compared to twice a week. YDT athletes are welcome to attend December Sunday sessions and positional training on Wednesday’s from January to March. YDT teams will compete in tournaments mid-late March to early April.
